The GMC Acadia is one-third of a General Motors triplet that shares the
GM Lambda platform. Its other sibling include the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick
Enclave. Like its Lambda brothers, the Acadia is a complete package, full-size
crossover utility vehicle (CUV) that exudes utmost comfort, functionality,
drivability, and fuel economy. However, if there's one thing that the Acadia
truly excels in, its roominess. The vehicle is so roomy that eight full sized
adult can sit comfortably in it and still have plenty of cargo room to spare.
Although the three Lambda CUVs are nearly identical in appearance, GMC
made sure that each one had its own personality. Whereas the Enclave focuses
more on luxury and the Traverse applies itself more to practicality, the GMC
Acadia can be called the best of both worlds, striking the perfect balance
between upscale and utilitarian features.
Despite its aggressive look, the Acadia is not an SUV, and as such, GMC
doesn't recommend that you use your Acadia for any off-roading or heavy hauling
escapades. That said, it can still pull a 5,000-pound boat and skim through
extreme road conditions with ease, thanks to its all-wheel drive option.
The 2012 GMC Acadia SLT-2 SUV remains almost unchanged from its previous
iteration, save for a few minor tweaks that include side blind-spot mirrors
(upper trim levels only) and an additional power outlet. That said, the Acadia
continues its streak of well-rounded offerings with this particular version.
